Udo Jürgens sang and put the ladies, "the fatties of the society" down, but please, with a dollop of cream. A suppressed smile, a boastful grin, a little sympathy: towards the Gates of Heaven follows the Federal German leading social critic from light entertainment his obese girlfriends.
A much more serious: feminists, suffragetts other compainer for women’s right have – quite contrary to their enemy Udo Jürgens - vehemently something against their obese fellow females. This recently, the gallery owner and painter Renate Höllerer had to learn, if not on her own body, but with her own pictures.
Höllerer paints fatties – I mean - women. Not so gentle and laughable as our friend the singer, but brutally, unvarnished, exaggerated, in a word, disgustingly fat. This the courageous "Emma's" held against her, threatened a Greek pub owner, who dared to hang two of Höllerer’s pictures in his restaurant and accused him of hostility towards women.
Fürth is now the place where you can view the pictures of Renate Höllerer for yourself and judge whether these feminists do not move suspiciously close to some moral high ground in their provincial power of judgement. At her "Galerie am Theater"on its first anniversary the gallerist shows her own paintings and drawings.
Renate Höllerer’s pictures are not really „nice”, this they can’t and don’t want to, because that is not their aim. A fat naked mountain in front of a mirror, taking care of an imaginary, nonexistent beauty, along with a snoring dog wearing a bow on its head; two oversized pieces of meat, dressed in nothing more than just stockings, sitting at a coffee house table - at the bottom, mockingly, she wrote the recipe for Black Forest Gateau, cakes in general are an important part in her etchings, as well as the slightly indicated flesh bulges, which seem to merge into each other.
These images are not for amusement (even those ones, on which a man's head and a pig's head are interchangeable), they are much more a clear expression of an unequivocal indictment against our wealth and prosperity society, they are an extremely big and fat, admonishingly raised finger.
